This subject emphasises the importance of developmentally appropriate practices to maximise children's learning. The emerging role of early childhood teachers in coping with societal changes is examined. This subject deals with the philosophy, goals of pre-school education and the desired outcomes of the pre-school education system in Singapore.
 

This subject provides the historical perspectives & background on pre-school education. It expands the understanding of the social dynamics learning in  pre-school context.

This course assists practitioners in understanding the process of child development in children aged one month to six years. Some of the areas addressed are on child’s physical development, cognitive development, language development and social & emotional development. A discussion on modern theories of child development is also included.
     
This subject provides an understanding of human development from infancy to adolescence as it occurs within a variety of social contexts. Within the subject, there is an emphasis on the influences of culture and the individual differences that may arise. The implications of these developmental outcomes for teachers and schools are considered.
