This program is a 1½-year full-time equivalent external or on-campus program designed to prepare students to work in early childhood care and educational settings, as well as to become a Director of a childcare centre.
The Bachelor of Early Childhood aims to develop students who will: |
. develop an awareness of the ecology of childhood and child-centred practices that impact on early childhood care and education
. promote acceptance of diversity amongst individual children within family and community contexts
. develop safe, healthy and child-responsive environments appropriate to children |

. create flexible, aesthetic and adaptable learning environ-ments that are responsive to the diverse abilities of all children and that consider environmental issues
. promote and abide by a code of ethics for early childhood professionals
. contribute to developing continuity between care programs, early childhood education and primary school education
. develop knowledge and beliefs about the emergent curriculum and whole-child philosophies
. emphasise the integrated nature of creativity and problem-centred learning in early childhood care and education
